A minimalist unfinished approach, deliberately leaving out much of the detail to draw attention to the face—because when the face is right, everything else becomes secondary. I wanted to invite a sense of ambiguity, encouraging the viewer to question certain elements: is she wearing glasses or sunglasses? Is the black background pushing forward or receding? I kept some of the grid lines visible to hint at the process behind the work. The hair is defined with fine oil stick lines, allowing structure without overpowering the vibrant background.
